Bad Apple

I guess there are bad apples in every tree – every apple tree, at least.  Last night I received a bit of Cogswell news that won’t be in the Courier.  It concerns a Cogswell – I won’t give his name, just say that he is a 31-year-old deaf ex-convict.  He was convicted in February of three counts of forcible rape and two other charges and was sentenced Friday, July 14th, to 105 years to life in prison.  That means he’ll be 136 years old by the time he gets out.  I’m not sure what the expression “to life” means – even in the USA few people live that long.  Perhaps some of the sentences run at the same time, although at least two are not concurrent.  And five years was added because of his criminal record.
