Death

Mom, Grace Naomi (Harold) Shockey died peacefully this afternoon around 7:00PM EST in the Health Care Center at Heritage Village in Gerry, New York. Dec. 9, 1906 – Feb. 21, 2007  (See picture 25)

The P.A. had called about 12:30 noon and suggested it would be good for me to come. I had the arrangements made shortly after that. I will fly tomorrow to Buffalo, NY through Chicago. Bill and Mel, our Care Giver, will take me to the airport. I will stay with Aunt Barbara Shockey, my sister-in-law in her duplex at Heritage Village until March. 1, when I will fly to Portland, OR and home to Vancouver, WA across the river.

We will have a funeral service with the casket present and open at Heritage Village in one of the Auditoriums probably on Saturday. Rev. Ray McGinnis will have the service. Mom has lived there since 1990 so many know her there. It has been home to her. She has been 6 1/2 years in the Health Care Center. When the RN called me this afternoon she told me she was with Mom when she passed peacefully. She cried as she told me she had worked there 5 1/2 years and she loved Grace. Activity Directors and other staff sat with Mom during the morning and day hours. She gave much love and was loved by so many…staff and residents.

There will be a Committal Service at the Graveside in south Salem, Oregon at the City View Cemetery. It will probably be Saturday morning March 3. That is yet to be confirmed.  Anyone is welcome. Grace will be buried beside her husband, Mark Henry Shockey, I who died November 2, 1974.

Later in March we plan a Memorial Service in the Salem Free Methodist Church.

Thank you again, for all your support, love and prayers.

Love,

Genevra
