Brandon Cogswell injured

The University of Virginia baseball team is 22-2 and ranked 11th in the nation and sophomore Branden Cogswell is doing it all for the Cavaliers. Cogswell, from Ballston Lake (Shenendehowa), is leading off and leads the team with a .402 average (35-for-87). He has five doubles and three triples, 12 RBI’s and a team-high 30 runs scored. He’s walked 23 times and has been hit by a pitch three times and has struck out just eight times. He also leads the team in stolen bases with 10. At shortstop, he has made five errors on 93 chances (.946). Jared King scored Branden Cogswell with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning, (picture) and the #7 UVA baseball team beat Old Dominion 10-9 Wednesday at Davenport Field April 17th. Branden Cogswell went 2-for-3 with two runs scored April 23rd as Virginia had a 6-2 win over Richmond. Branden Cogswell was 2-for-4 and scored three times, April 30 as UVa Cavaliers defeated VCU 11-3. Branden Cogswell will miss two weeks because of a fractured finger. Cogswell broke the middle finger on his right hand (throwing hand) May 4th, in practice and underwent surgery to repair the break. Cogswell has started all 47 games for the Cavaliers, leading off the batting order in each contest. He is second on the team with a .346 batting average and ranks among the ACC leaders in several offensive categories. He recently was named to the watch list for the 2013 Wallace Award, which is presented to the nation’s top shortstop.
